Romans 8:28 (NIV) …And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
May be one of the most difficult Scripture to understand at times. By that, I mean those times of despair, futility, doubt, fear, etc. However, when we are enshrouded with gloom, with no flicker of light at the end of the tunnel, and seemingly no one to turn to and nowhere to go, this verse, rather, than being hard to understand, should enlighten our heart, mind, and soul with hope, faith, and trust.
Why use “hope” “faith” and “trust” in that way? Simply because this verse declares that we can have hope, that is, expectation or anticipation. Trials make our faith stronger, in that we exercise faith that God CAN do what He says. Trust comes into play when we, in expectation and anticipation, and by faith, come to realize that God WILL do what He says, and that He CAN and WILL do it in the lives of those who love, those He has called according to His purpose.
For God to hear signifies that He will answer. According to His plan for you He can and will work ALL things for your good.
