Psalm 112:1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.
To fear the LORD is to revere Him, or stand in reverential awe of Him. That results in finding great delight in His commands, which brings about happiness (Blessed), which, in turn, will cause praise to come forth from our mouths, prompted by what’s in our hearts.
So, it really is a “Heart thing” after all, isn’t it? “For of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (Luke 6:45). “As he (man) thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23.7). “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart…” (Matthew 15:18).
Unadulterated, uncensored, undiluted, genuine praise must come from a heart that delights in Scripture. How significant is that? Jesus used the word to refute the devil’s temptations.
If Jesus used the word, then I think it stands to reason that we should do no less.
