Fully Committed

From Pastor’s Desk: 9-24-15

1 Kings 8:61 …your hearts must be fully committed to the LORD our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”

Just read the “Verse of the Day” from mydailybible.org: “…whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17 NLT).

If there was ever a time for Christians to live by these verses, it is in our current time. This is a result of being fully committed to God. “As at this time” was at the dedication of the Temple when “Solomon assembles the elders of Israel, and brings up the ark, and the holy vessels, and the tabernacle, out of the city of David, and places them in the temple; on which account a vast number of sheep and oxen are sacrificed” (vs. 1-8). Later, in verse 63 we see the amount: “Solomon gave to the Lord for peace-offerings, twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel kept the feast of the opening of the Lord’s house.” (BBE)

Adam Clarke comments, “This was the whole amount of the victims that had been offered during the fourteen days; i.e., the seven days of the dedication, and the seven days of the feast of tabernacles.”

What a laborious yet glorious time that must have been! Verse 10-11 says “…when the priests had come out of the holy place, the house of the Lord was full of the cloud, so that the priests were not able to keep their places to do their work because of the cloud, for the house of the Lord was full of the glory of the Lord.”(BBE).

Are you longing for the glory of the LORD to fill the house of the LORD? It can only happen when you live in such a way that “…whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him…” and have “your hearts…fully committed to the LORD our God…”
