From Pastor’s Desk:
Psalm 7:17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
Tomorrow is the one day of the year that people are aware of a prevailing “Thankfulness.” It is sad that this the only season that many people stop to consider for what, and whom, they are thankful. And some are only aware of the season because of others mentioning it. Some could pass it by without a thought.
The Psalmist, in the above verse, does not give any indication that he is in a certain season as he writes these words. When Joshua and “second generation” was ready to cross, finally, the Jordan River into the Land of Promise, he was given a directive from the Lord – “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8.
The Bible is replete with passages that lays down the principle, with great clarity, that we are to live our lives with gratitude of what God has done and who God is. After all, He does what He does because of who He is.
We should be eternally thankful, every day, moment-by-moment, not just one day of the year. Oh, yes, and we should praise Him unceasingly!
Not only will bless the Lord, and exalt Him, you will be blessed and exalted. It’s just a given. When you bless the Lord, you are blessed!
