From Pastor’s Desk:
Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
I’ve crossed the hot, burning desert
Strug’ling the right road to choose
Somewhere up ahead there’s cool, clear water
And defeat is one word I don’t use.
(Verse two of “Too Much to Gain to Lose.” by Dottie Rambo.)
We all go through them. I know of no one who has not had to tread the long, hot, burning expanse of a spiritual desert. Doesn’t matter the age in today’s society. A young person is not protected nor immune to it. An older person may have gone through many. I know of no minister, especially, who has not experienced it. Life just doesn’t seem fair, does it?
Well, a hard, cold fact of life is that life is not fair. God never said it would be. There’s too much sin in the world today that causes bad things to happen to good people. But God is still God and He can turn things around in one’s life when it seems impossible to do so, even in the midst of a dry, barren desert.
Somewhere up ahead there is cool, clear water. Not a mirage, but a real oasis, place in your desert to refresh you. God knows the exact spot where to place the oasis. Just when it seems you’re done in and about to give up because of the obstacles of the desert, that is, the hot, burning sand, the scorching, unbearable heat and glare of the sun, the inexplicable feeling of being all alone and forsaken, you come up on this small, refreshing spot in this vast, seemingly unending desert and you stop and rest for a while in the shade of the surrounding trees that grow only here around the oasis.
Take it personal! He will make a way in your desert. He will make streams where there is none.
