From Pastor’s Desk:
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Just think how powerful, uncompromising, illuminating, and irrefutable the message of the church (the gospel) would be if every person within the church would have this mindset.
Seeking not material goods that will surely pass away, but setting our affections on things above and not on things of earth (Col. 3:1-2). Seeking after knowledge of the word, because it is the only thing that will never pass away (Luke 21:33).
Dwelling (living, abiding) in the house of the LORD. “If you abide in me, and my word abides in you…” (John 15:7) significantly denotes a life in Christ that is constant and unwavering. Greek for “abide” is “meno,” which translated, is “staying.”
Gazing on the beauty of the LORD. Having our eyes on Him continuously, that we may see the beauty in all that is because all that is has come from Him. If we look with a spiritual eye we can beauty where none is plainly evident, even in the midst of a storm.
Seeking Him “in his temple.” 1 Cor. 3:16 says that we (those who have accepted Christ Jesus as Savior) are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in us. We are to seek to bring Him glory and honor by living so that others see Him in us.
