Power In The Blood

From Pastor’s Desk: 4-8-16
Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Without the blood there is no remission of sin. The blood is the source from which we are healed (See 1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5). The draining of Christ’s blood signifies that He is the one-time, eternal sacrifice by which we are redeemed (SEE Hebrew 9:12). It should come as no surprise that the devil would strive to have any reference to, or any indication of the blood removed even from the Bible.
The blood is yet flowing from Calvary, and it will continue to flow until such time as mankind no longer needs it. That will be the time the Father will say it’s over, time is to be no more (SEE Revelation 10:6). Nothing and/or no one will stop its flow!
Robert Lowry (1826-1899) penned this marvelous message in 1876:
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount’ I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
C. Michael Hawn, in writing about the author and the song, says, “For many…this hymn is anathema (cursed), especially for those who loathe ‘blood’ hymns.”
That seems so long ago, doesn’t it? Yet we still have to this day, maybe even more pronounced, those who do their best to take the blood out of the equation. They just don’t understand the power in the blood!
