Former Things and New Things

Sunset over Mountain RangeFrom Pastor’s Desk:

Isaiah 42:9 See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
You may be asking yourself today if it’s ever going to end, this trial you have been in for some time. It might be that you have been stuck in a hot, dry, barren, desert-like experience. Don’t forget that God knows where you are. He is well aware of your struggle. In fact, more likely than not, He placed you there, for without it you would be unable to grow into the next step of spiritual maturity He has ordained for you.
Life for the Christian is not happenstance. Absolutely nothing is accidental because God directs the steps of the righteous (Ps. 37:23). He directed the former things and He will direct the new things, as He knows them before they happen.
Remember, He told His people long ago that He would send the former rain and the latter rain its due season (Deut. 11:14). Don’t be surprised at every little (or big) thing that comes your way. If you have placed your trust in God, He will direct your way, everything will be of God.
Of course, the point here is to put your trust in God and allow Him to direct your steps. If you do that, even in the dry, barren places He will lead you according to His will and plan for you.
