From Pastor’s Desk:
Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
If you continue on to verse 31, you’ll see “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
I am told that the eagle, when it at first senses a storm, will turn directly toward it and use the winds, as they become stronger, as an upward draft to raise him high above the storm, to the point that he can look down upon the raging storm that otherwise would have destroyed him.
During our storms of life we tend to run from them. Of course, there is something to be said about using shelter. But spiritually speaking, I think we are so afraid that we tend to miss the concept of using the wind of the storm to raise us above it.
Not in our own strength can we do this. He doesn’t expect us to. That’s why HE gives strength to the weary… And remember, He does not only give us strength, He IS our strength.
