A Fair Trade

From Pastor’s Desk:

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV
That’s a long time! That’s a lot of love and mercy! How can that be? Because of the one who promises, the LORD your God: The LORD, that is, יְהֹוָה yehôvâh (yeh-ho-vaw’), self-existent, eternal. He is our God, or אֱלֹהִים ‘ĕlôhı̂ym (el-o-heem’) the supreme, one and only living God.
With credentials such as those one can promise within the covenant relationship knowing that He has the power to keep, שָׁמַר shâmar (shaw-mar’), which is, to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to,
All we have to do is to trust that His word is true and that He will do what He says He will do. Remember, we are recipients of, and participants in, the New Covenant of which He has designed, initiated, implemented, sustains, and will ultimately bring to fruition.
And He’s able to do that because of who He is!
Oh! One more thing. This is only for those who love Him and keep His commandments! The word “keep” here is the same as the one used prior. The one prior pertains to Him. This one pertains to us. So we are to “keep” His commandments in the same way He “keeps” covenant and mercy with us.
Goes without saying that it’s a fair trade!
