Powerful or Powerless?

From Pastor’s Desk: 7-23-17

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

For God to count us worthy of His calling and fulfill every good purpose necessitates living a righteous life. That righteousness comes only through Christ, of course, since there is “none righteous, no, not one” (Rom. 3:10).

Note that the verse says “fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act PROMPTED BY YOUR FAITH.” Wow! What a concept! According to our faith we shall be counted worthy. According to our faith all things for which we pray will be fulfilled!

At what point in your life does God count your faith, as he did Abraham’s, as righteousness? When you pray, does your faith grab hold of His faithfulness and effect great changes in people and situations? Is there that moment during your prayer time that you gain God’s attention to the degree that He not only hears, but acts, according to His will, on your behalf?
